Not your grandma’s crochet class

I am very excited to share the news that I am teaching a crochet class! My first class is on July 2nd and I created a simple square dishcloth to teach the basics and get the students started. I hope to share my passion for crochet and inspire my students to use this new skill to create anything they want! I will also be posting class information, patterns, and resources here for my students to access as needed. So, here is the pattern for our first project:

Skill Level: Beginner

Gage: Not important

Size: Approx. 8 x 8.5 in.

Supplies:

  • Peaches & Cream 100% cotton yarn, 1 skein in color of your choice (made with Sweet Pea Stripes)
  • Size H/5.0 crochet hook
  • Yarn Needle

Abbreviations:

  • Ch – chain
  • Sc – single crochet
  • Dc – double crochet
  • St – stitch
  • Sl st – slip stitch

Dishcloth

Ch 25.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and ea ch across. (24 sc)

Rows 2-4: Ch 1, turn. Sc in ea st across.

Row 5: Ch 3(counts as dc now and throughout), turn. Dc in ea sc across. (24 dc)

Row 6: Ch 3, turn. Dc in ea dc across.

Rows 7-10: Repeat Row 2.

Rows 11-12: Repeat Rows 5-6.

Rows 13-16: Repeat Row 2.

Rows 17-18: Repeat Rows 5-6.

Rows 19-22: Repeat Row 2. Do not fasten off.

Loop & Edging

Ch 10, being careful not to twist the ch, join with a sl st to the first ch, sc around dishcloth with 3 sc in each corner, except the corner with the loop. Sl st in each ch around the loop. Finish off. Hide ends.
